October is fast approaching and will be here before you know it. This year, October will be bringing with it, the premier of the new animated TV series ‘Star Wars: Rebels’. The series will have a 1-hour premier on the Disney Channel before moving to Disney XD for regular airings.
John Jackson Miller, the author of the upcoming Star Wars novel ‘A New Dawn’ posted the following on his Facebook account.
In recent years, the Star Wars Books Sampler edition was a staple of San Diego Comic-Con; with the Advance Collector’s Edition of my STAR WARS: A NEW DAWN out at that event, this year’s Sampler is available in advance, digitally. Previews from NEW DAWN, James Luceno‘s TARKIN, Kevin Hearne‘s HEIR TO THE JEDI, and Paul S. Kemp‘s LORDS OF THE SITH. The sampler is FREE and can be preordered now for download next week!
In celebration they have posted an excerpt from the upcoming novel ‘Star Wars: Heir to the Jedi’ by Kevin Hearne.
The novel is set to be published in January 2015. It takes place between ‘A New Hope’ and ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and is written from the first person point of view of Luke Skywalker. It was one of the first titles announced that will be official canon under the supervision of the Star Wars unified storytelling group.
I love the Millennium Falcon, I had the Kenner replica toy ship when I was young and I spent hours recreating scenes from Star Wars or conjure up my own adventures with the Falcon and my action figures. And one of the many cool things about the upcoming Episode VII is that we’ll be seeing the return of the almighty pirate ship making its triumphant return, the photo above and more on TMZ show that its construction is taking place along with what appears to be an X-Wing Fighter also.
However, apparently, Star Wars is more than all of that. It turns out that there are also some movies. A few from the past and some that are coming in the future. Who would have guessed? So in the spirit of including all things Star Wars, I suppose a post about these under reported films is appropriate.
I’m posting a lot about Star Wars today because today is May the 4th and I don’t know if you’re aware of it or not but that means today is Star Wars day. However, I’ve found that the Star Wars posts are generally well received so I might begin to post more of my thoughts on some of the novels I read and other important news as it comes along.
In that spirit, this post is pretty much just a plug for something I really enjoy that is Star Wars related.
If you are a fan of Star Wars, specifically the novels, I would like to take this Star Wars Day to make a recommendation.
