Steve Nash, one of the greatest point guards of all-time and a 2-time MVP may have played his last game in the NBA.
The Los Angeles Lakers presumed starter this season has been lost for the year with a back injury.
I have not posted an Iron Sheik Tweet of the Day in many many many days. Not that anyone has noticed or complained or even cared.
Still, that was more out of my own general laziness than anything else. Besides, when was the last time you saw a post on this site written by Euan?
I didn’t watch any of the NBA Playoffs last night. So I didn’t see the San Antonio Spurs defeat the Portland Trail Blazers to take a 2-0 lead in their best of seven series.
Nevertheless, I know exactly why Portland lost and it had absolutely nothing to do with execution or poor strategy.
The Trail Blazers were defeated before the game even started. In fact, they were finished shortly after arriving at the AT&T Center.
The tweet that I used in my prior post on the Donald Sterling situation is inaccurate. That’s what I get for using NBC.
The real punishment is a lifetime ban from the NBA and a $2.5 million fine.
It was what had to be done. If you’re a player in the NBA and especially if you’re an African American player in the NBA, there is no way that you would want to play for Donald Sterling at this point. Doc Rivers doesn’t want to coach for the man and who can blame him? He could go to court to try and fight the ban but let us all hope that he does the smart thing and just sells the team and slinks off under the rock from under which he crawled out.
The NBA has handed down punishment to Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for some racist comments he made in an audio recording that surfaced on TMZ last week.
A $5 million fine is pretty hefty for sure but Sterling can afford it. Honestly, compiling a documentary of stupid draft picks made by the Clippers during his tenure as owner and tossing in idiotic trades as well should have also been included.
This new comes after several sponsors have ended their association with the team. Also, the NAACP decided against giving Sterling a second lifetime achievement award for some reason.
Editor’s Note: The tweet sited above has the punishment wrong. We apologize for the error of using it and here is an updated version of our story with the correct information.
That’s not exactly news. Neither is the audio of him supposedly making racist statements to his girlfriend as posted by TMZ. You don’t need to dig far back in to his past to know what he really stands for.
The players on the Clippers staged a silent protest before their game 4 matchup against the Golden State Warriors.
That’s exactly what they did. Donald Sterling is indeed the worst owner in sports and he’s so bad that he probably takes second through fifth place as well.
I know there wasn’t an Iron Sheik tweet of the day yesterday. The mass suicides that have happened all around the world as a result are surely going to keep me awake 2 maybe 3 extra minutes tonight.
I just finished filling out a survey sent to me because I am a current subscriber to NBA League Pass. The survey got me to thinking about my experience with League Pass this season. The fact is that my biggest NBA question right now is if I should even renew my subscription for next year.
So Kansas freshman Basketball player Andrew Wiggins has declared himself for the 2014 NBA draft. That is hardly news as it has been expected all year. But Wiggins offered a tremendous quote about college which is expressed in this tweet from San Francisco Chronicle Sports Writer Vic Tafur.
I agree, colleges should really try to fix this problem. I think, and this is a radical idea, that they should consider becoming 4-year institutions instead of 1-and-done schools.
Yes, it is true, the 76ers defeated the Pistons 123-98 on Saturday. This snapped their record tying 26-game losing streak. It also widens the gap between them and the Milwaukee Bucks for worst record in the league.
A bad day all around. Just when you think they’ve got tanking down to an art form they go and undo all their hard work.
For a parody account, they got that shit right yo. In fact, here is the Sixers’ current logo:
I think Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, has a lot of fantastic business ideas. So when he talks, I tend to listen. I don’t always agree with him but I am always willing to listen.
Cuban told Tim McMahon of ESPNDallas.com that the NFL risks over saturation and a fan revolt.
Before I get to the actual comments though, I feel it only fair to point out that many people consider the NBA to be just as greedy with a season that seems to drag forever.
