Simpsons World App and Website, Featuring Every Episode Ever, Launches Tomorrow

In her first post yesterday, Mia wrote that if The Simpsons came to Netflix it would completely destroy her productivity. Well, the Simpsons isn’t coming to NetFlix but her productivity is probably doomed as of tomorrow.

The long-awaited Simpsons World app and website will be launched on Tuesday.

Apple TV Adds CNBC and FOXNow to Lineup

Apple released an update today to its Apple TV set-top box which added 2 new channels to the growing amount of content it provides.

The first is CNBC, the business news cable network. This channel app allows for on demand viewing of episodes of the network’s programs as well as clips. It also provides access to a live stream of the network. Activation through a cable provider is required. You can view a list of available cable companies by clicking here.

I did pretty well with this last night, so thought I’d take another crack at it. Here are some links to stories from the world of television.

First, and the one that interests me the most, ‘Welcome Back Kotter – The Complete Series’ is coming to DVD in late august! It will be released by Shout! Factory.

In other Shout! Factory news, The studio is working on a series set for ‘WKRP in Cincinnati’. I’ll buy them both!

Struggling Fox Renews Struggling American Idol

Despite my objections, it has been announced that A 14th Season of American Idol has been ordered by Fox.

The reasoning isn’t really hard to understand. Even though the ratings for the show have been slumping for several seasons, it is still the top show on the network. That says more about the recent struggles of Fox than anything else.

No word on if any or all of the current judges will be back for next season.

NBC, Fox Make Series Orders

Next week is Upfront week for all of the major broadcast networks and NBC. It is at this event where the new fall schedules will be announced and advertisers get their first look at the new series each network will pray is the next big thing.

This week is the week that we start to find out which pilots are picked up to series and which current series are going to be renewed or canceled.

Yesterday I posted about the Batman Prequel ‘Gotham’ ordered to series by Fox. Fox and NBC have made other pickups today.

Video: Fox Greenlights Batman Prequel ‘Gotham’

On Monday it was announced that Fox has given a series order to the Batman Prequel ‘Gotham’ and that it will be part of the network’s 2014-2015 fall schedule.

The series stars Ben McKenzie as James Gordon and is described by Fox as:

“an origin story of the great DC Comics super-villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told.”

When we decided to bring the site back, we said we’d be blogging about whatever we felt like, whenever we felt like it. Apparently, that also means we can blog from anywhere, including the gutter.
